GIRL-CHILD SCHOLARSHIPS

Goal: $25-50/year/girl	(grades 1-12)

This ongoing program can benefit an unlimited number of
girls. Most Nepali girls have to drop out of school by
the third grade to perform manual labor at home for the
family’s survival. Young girls as far away as the Far
West District of Baitadi have benefited from this program.
100% of your donation goes directly to a girl’s education.

HHN SCHOLARSHIP FOR
THE UNDERPRIVILEDGED

Goal: $1,200/year (higher education)

This scholarship benefits traditional low caste and
female students. For example, first recipient Som
Bahadur Bohora is a Dalit — Untouchable Caste - who has
a burning desire to obtain an education and return to
his village to help others. Som attends Tribhuvan
University’s Institute of Forestry in Pokhara, and
plans to work in the field of Community Forestry when
he graduates in 2007. Som maintains top grades and
is a wonderful example to other Dalits of what can
be accomplished through diligence and hard work.
This scholarship may be awarded in August or September
each year.
