Projects Currently Requesting Funding
Information on many of these projects can be
found under Humanitarian Projects and Affiliations.
Goal: $25-50/year/girl (grades 1-12)
This ongoing program can benefit an unlimited number of
girls. Most Nepali girls have to drop out of school by
the third grade to perform manual labor at home for the
family’s survival. Young girls as far away as the Far
West District of Baitadi have benefited from this program.
100% of your donation goes directly to a girl’s education.
HHN SCHOLARSHIP FOR
Goal: $1,200/year (higher education)
This scholarship benefits traditional low caste and
female students. For example, first recipient Som
Bahadur Bohora is a Dalit — Untouchable Caste - who has
a burning desire to obtain an education and return to
his village to help others. Som attends Tribhuvan
University’s Institute of Forestry in Pokhara, and
plans to work in the field of Community Forestry when
he graduates in 2007. Som maintains top grades and
is a wonderful example to other Dalits of what can
be accomplished through diligence and hard work.
This scholarship may be awarded in August or September

When HHN receives book donations, that’s only half the project.
Money is needed to send the requested books to Nepal. Volunteers
provide the boxes, plastic bags, labels, and manual labor to pack and
ship the books. Please contact HHN regarding book donations
and shipping details.

Nepalis with no other hope. HHN receives professional fund management as a donation.
NATIONAL KIDNEY FOUNDATION
Goal: $50/treatment, unlimited
Kathmandu has a high standard dialysis center. The cost for one dialysis treatment is
approximately $50, which is 25% of what many Nepalis make in a year. Sponsors are
needed to facilitate this vital process, especially for women.
NEPAL HISTORIC PHOTOGRAPH PRESERVATION PROJECT
HHN has been asked to assist with the preservation of historic photographs dating
as far back as the late 1800s. They are the images of three photographers in the
Chitrakar family and are a one-of-a-kind collection of historical and cultural significance.
Unique one-time-need projects often come to HHN for assistance. The current Nepal
Historic Photograph Preservation Project is an example of a Special Project, as is
providing blankets for Taplejung District Hospital (see Success Stories).
TILATHI ENT HOSPITAL
Equipment donations and funding are needed. Valuable family land has been donated by
a Nepali ENT surgeon for this project to provide a first-ever ENT hospital in eastern
Nepal. Please write for details.
